MINIMUM CRITERIA TO BE MET
- Company ownership: Preference will be given to majority black-owned EMEs
- Annual turnover threshold: Between R1 million and R10 million
- Operational history: Operational for at least 2 years
- Fleet ownership: Minimum of 3 company-owned trucks currently in operation
- Business expansion plan: A high level business growth plan must be submitted
- Financial responsibility: Financial statements for the last 2 years to showcase financial health must be provided as well as the latest 3 months sets of management accounts or bank statements
- Compliance & Governance: Comply with Astron Energy’s operational and governance standards; business licenses, tax clearance certificates, and proof of compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations must be up to date and valid.
- Community and socio-economic impact: Must outline their contribution to local socio-economic development, e.g., supporting local suppliers, employing staff from local communities, etc.
MINIMUM CRITERIA TO BE MET
- Company ownership: Preference will be given to majority black-owned and majority women-owned retail stations
- Minimum annual turnover threshold: R3 million
- Operational history: Operational for at least 3 years
- Employment growth commitment: At least 5 full-time staff and demonstrate a commitment to creating new additional jobs within the next 12–24 months if funding is granted
- Business expansion plan: A business growth plan, including clear expansion goals (e.g., adding new services, increasing operational capacity), must be submitted. Projected revenue growth and operational improvements supported by funding must be presented
- Growth-oriented loan purpose: Funding requests must be for growth-related initiatives, including:
- Expanding retail space or capacity
- Acquiring new equipment or technology
- Launching additional value-added services
- Enhancing supply chain efficiencies
- Note: Funding cannot be used for operational expenses or debt consolidation
- Financial responsibility: Audited or reviewed financial statements for the last 2 years to showcase financial health must be provided.
- Compliance & Governance: Comply with Astron Energy’s operational and governance standards; business licenses, tax clearance certificates, and proof of compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations must be up to date and valid.
- Community and socio-economic impact: Must outline their contribution to local socio-economic development, e.g., supporting local suppliers, employing staff from local communities, etc.

- Be mindful of deadlines—late submissions will not be accepted.
- Allow us the necessary time to evaluate applications thoroughly. This means that all applicants who submitted complete and powerful applications will be invited for a round of interviews and must share necessary information with the AEDF evaluation team. In addition, all applications that the evaluation team puts forward to the Investment Committee for review will require additional due diligence, including a thorough KYC/KYB process and on-site visits by our technical team.
